This server is unreachable for me!

I can’t connect the server from my network ( in China ).

You must be surprised, how I post this if I can’t connect it.  Because I have a remote desktop in Goteborg, Sweden, ( I’m working with the NSPS project there), I can use it to connect this server from Swedish network. However, it’s not a ‘forever plan’ .

Presentation: Martin

My name is Martin Fröjd (can be spelled Frojd or Froejd in English), and I am born and bred in Sweden. My Swedish home town would be Gothenburg on the west coast, where I also studied MSc Software Engineering at the Chalmers University of Technology. As part of my studies, I went abroad to Hong Kong where I did an exchange and later a research internship, at the wonderful Hong Kong University of Science & Technology. I wrote my thesis and some scientific papers in HKUST, in total I stayed for almost 1.5 years. You will find out, sooner or later, that I have a great passion for Hong Kong – I am basically in exile now : ) I am certain I will soon enough be able to work and live in Hong Kong again. And I know my girlfriend, a HK girl, would very much approve of this!

After HK I got employed as a System Architect / Concept Developer at Ericsson National Security & Public Safety in Mölndal (south Gothenburg). I loved this job, but when given the chance of going GGP, I obviously took it. I am looking forward to meeting a lot of great people and to be able to get around a lot in the world!

I am now living in Milton Keynes, UK, a quite big city in between London and Coventry. Since beginning of August I started working in my “home unit”, which is DU Broadband Networks in Coventry. I am working with a product called Multihaul 3000, which is a kind of optical switch for delivering huge amounts of data over great distances. It is not yet decided what I will do during the autumn, but meanwhile I am parsing C-code into XML documentation… So far, I have seen that Ilaria works in the same DU as me (but in Italy), while Sidney worked with the same product as I did in Gothenburg. Ericsson is a small world, after all!

I do loads of stuff outside work, usually more than I have time to do. I work as a writer/editor for a game publisher, I play role-playing games, ride motorcycle and watch a lot of movies. I also love skiing and travelling in general. My current “big projects”, except GGP and getting to Hong Kong, is to finish learning Chinese and to do a motorcycle trip across Asia.

Prologue

This is Magnus and I am also one of the trainees.

It is soon time for GGP4 to start. While we have no stories to tell from the program itself, we can still try to share some of the events leading up to 1st September. The prologue.

A few weeks before the program start, all of us have begun working at different R&D departments of Ericsson all around the world. This is so we can settle in at our “home-units”, getting started.

So far, I have only been working 2 days, I have spent time to get the computer and cellular phone to work, study the documentation and introductionary texts on Ericsson and try to catch up on the industry. I am, like many of my soon to be colleagues are, new to the cellular phone industry. There is much to read and much to learn.

During the past few months we have made contact with each other over facebook, by e-mail and now this blog. All of us agree that this trainee program will provide excelent personal and professional opportunities. A great adventure!

We all look forward to the program so much we can’t wait to get started!!  Therefore we have decided to start “one day in advance” by having a dinner at the evening 31st August, when everyone has arrived to Sweden.

It will be a nice international dinner, with food from all over the world, to celebrate the adventures to come! It will mark the end of this prologue and the start of something fantastic!

Welcome to take part in our journey!

$ echo “Hello World”

NOTE: The dollar sign ‘$’ represents the escape sign found on the Linux shell from where you type commands. (echo “Hello World” prints ‘Hello World’ on the terminal). It has nothing to do with money!

Welcome to the unofficial, unapproved, underground, but extremely awesome Global Graduate Training Program blog.

Starting in September 2008, we, 13 highly talented people around the world, will begin what is for sure, the forth edition of one of the most exclusive graduate programs in the world. This blog is here to share our experiences with you, maybe in the future you will take part on it!

Anyways, this is Miguel, and as you can imagine I am one of the trainees, I am a 23 year old Spaniard from Madrid, and I am very proud to take part on this program.

Welcome all.
